Services for Stephen Lynn Carden, Jr., 66, of Gilmer will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Born on January 15, 1948, in Sherman, Texas, he died on Wednesday, July 16, 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a retired forester for the Texas Forest Service. He is survived by his son, Stephen Lynn Carden, III; three sisters, Karen Castle, Renee McNeil, and Shellie Haycox; and three grandchildren, Sara Carden, Courtney Carden, and Shelby Carden.
