Roy Truman Bishop, Sr.

Funeral services for Roy Truman Bishop, Sr., 81, of Pittsburg will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer. Interment will be in the Crossroads Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Bishop passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Bishop was born November 27, 1934 in Rusk, TX to Leroy and Fannie Ewing Capps Bishop. He was a retired Electronic Engineer with the United States Air Force, had lived in Upshur County since February 1997 and was a member of the Brumley Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Martha Bishop; son, Roy Bishop, Jr and wife, Effie Ann Copous; daughters, Karen Cunningham and husband, John and Starr Cook and husband, Curtis; sisters, Janet Darlene Mallory and husband, Tom, and Judy Jesse; five grandchildren, Carma Dawn Walls, John Cunningham, IV, Esther Faggione, Michael Cunningham and Skyler Mae Bishop; three step-grandchildren, Daniel Copous, Corey Copous and Hollie Notter; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Bishop is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Perry Scott Bishop; sister, Gayla Rose Bishop. Pallbearers will be Roy Bishop, Jr, Curtis Cook, John Cunningham, Michael Cunningham and Matt Faggione. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer.
