DIANA: Services for Reggie Hibberts, 89, of Longview, will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Grubbs-Loyd Chapel in Diana, with Reverend David Hibberts and Reverend Mark Minter officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Interment will follow at Lafayette Cemetery. He passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at his residence in Longview.
Reggie was born October 2, 1927 in Sandy Land, Arkansas to John and Effie Hibberts. He attended Norphlet ISD where he was a statewide track champion. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp and later received his Bachelor’s degree in 1953 and his Masters in 1971 in petroleum engineering after working for ESSO. He began his career with Standard Oil in the Permian Basin. Reggie started the first blow out prevention school at LSU where he was an adjunct assistant professor there and at Oklahoma University. He was a consultant for Triton Engineering firm in Houston where he traveled extensively for his work as a petroleum engineer. Reggie was a colon cancer survivor and he permanently retired in 1989. After retirement, he enjoyed bream fishing and teaching drivers ed. He also traveled a lot and had visited every continent for either work or pleasure. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Diana where he was very involved in church activities.
Reggie is survived by his loving wife; Joy Hibberts, son: Charles Hibberts, Jr. and wife Janelle, and grandchildren: Kasey and Nicole Hibberts, extended family: Richy, Samantha, Blake and Ty Wall.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Morine Hibberts and brother William Doyle Hibberts.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, May 12, 2017 6-8 p.m. at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana.
