GILMER � Services for Martin �Buddy� Wells, 70, of Longview, will be held 10 AM Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Southside Baptist Church in Gilmer with Rev. Ronnie Ryan officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Mr. Wells passed away Saturday, August 13 at his residence. Martin was born December 1, 1940 in Gilmer to Duncan and Dora Wells. He was retired from Penwald Chemical Corp. and a Baptist. He enjoyed playing cards, played his guitar and sang at local nursing homes and loved his cat �pookedoo�. Martin will be thoroughly missed by his many friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents: Duncan Wells and Dora Wells McKenzie and a brother: Tillman Wells, all of Gilmer. He is survived by his wife: Alice Wells of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law: Loretta and Marty Atkins of Muskogee, OK, Karen Donnelley of Haileyville, OK, Sherran Wells of McAlester, OK, Marie and Mike Wagoner of Krebs, OK; step-sons: Jay Franklin of Florida and Shiloe Phillips of Gilmer; sister and brother-in-law: Katie and Leo Calhoun of Gladewater; brothers and sister-in-law: Danny and Rose Wells of Lindale and Elvis Wells of Burleson; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; a special niece: Becky; and numerous Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Pallbearers will be: Marty Atkins, Leo Calhoun, Mike Wagoner, Ed Grantham, Shiloe Phillips and Randy Washburn. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Monday, August 15, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer.
