Lloyd P Wright

Lloyd Wright was born on February 2, 1924, in Harleton, Texas to Charles Wesley and Etta Samantha Wright. He passed away on November 30, 2021 at the Watson-Logan VA home in Tyler.

Lloyd joined the U.S. Army in 1943 and proudly served until 1946. He was a sergeant in Company A, 740th Tank Battalion, serving under General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge, Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe. Decorated medals included American Theater Campaign, EAME Campaign with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct, Distinguished Unit Badge, Victory Ribbon and 2 Overseas Service Bars.
After his discharge, he worked as a farmer, mechanic at Goodwin Chevrolet and millwright at Lone Star Steel.

He was a life long member of Morton Baptist Church and the Baptist Disaster Relief team. He was also a Master Mason for more than 75 years at the Ashland Lodge No. 1138.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 74 years: Pearl Wright, son: Charles Patrick Wright, sons-in-law: Charles Wilhelm and Richard Tidwell, great-granddaughter: Addison Wyatt, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.

He is survived by his son: Kevin Wright, daughter: Linda Wilhelm, daughter-in-law: Sharon Wright, grandchildren: Carl & Donna Wright, Brian & Julie Wright, Keith Tidwell, Michael & Taylor Blackwood, Mercedes Blackwood & Terry Tingle and Megan Wright, great-grandchildren: Kara Wright, Nichole & James Haynes, Kyle Wright, Hannah Wright, Addison Wright, Brent & Taylor Tidwell, Lindsey & Chayden Beggs, Regan Tingle, Avery Tingle, Hallie Tingle, Carter Blackwood, Kourtlyn Blackwood, Michael Blackwood, and Kamden Blackwood, great-great grandchildren: Mason Tidwell, Lawson Wyatt, Carson Beggs, and Lucas Ortiz.

Graveside service for Mr. Wright will be Saturday, December 4, 2:00 PM, at Eagle Creek Cemetery on Hwy 154 E., Harleton, Texas, with Brother Mike Brittain and Carl Wright officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana.
