Mr. Jonathan Wilson, age 74, of Longview, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at his home under hospice care. Jonathan was born in Kingsland, Arkansas to the late Sanford Wilson and Floy Hurley on December 10, 1945. He served honorably in the U.S. Army as a Wheel Mechanic during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1966, and in the reserves until 1969. He had a successful career in the construction field, where his skill, determination, ingenuity, and pursuit of perfection in every task, was always in demand; he finished his career as a construction supervisor. Jonathan was a true outdoorsman and nature lover that enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, and gardening. He was naturally talented in anything he tried and a student of life until his final days, always open to learning something new. He was charming, hardworking, honest, trustworthy, and a patriotic American that loved his country.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ovid Welch, Thomas Wilson; two sisters, Janice Robinson, and Margo Yoes.
He is survived by his daughter, Jonna Wilson Rodriguez and husband Richard of Nevada, TX., sister, Sue Richardson and husband Bill of Kemp, TX., three grandchildren, Jon Chamberlain and wife Nicole of Fate, TX., Ricky Rodriguez and wife Sarah, stationed at Minden Hall Air Force Base in England, Nick Rodriguez and wife Becky of Broomfield, CO.; three great-grandchildren, Levi Chamberlain, Daniel Rodriguez, Evelyn Rodriguez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Inurnment services at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie are scheduled for 10:15 AM on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Arrangements under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home of Diana.
