Obituary for Johnny Cannon
Services for Johnny Wayne Cannon, 72, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Pool and Tim Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Grice Cemetery. Mr. Cannon passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019. Johnny was born July 9, 1946, in Monroe, LA, to Doyce and Wanda Laverne Cannon. He served his country proudly in the Army during the Vietnam War and received the Army Commendation Medal. Johnny married Anita Kay Harris on January 14, 1967 in Gilmer, and he was a member of Antioch Baptish Church. He is survived by his wife, Anita Cannon; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Kathryn Cannon, Jason and Lisa Cannon, Jody and Tana Cannon; daughter, Angela Cannon; brother, Michael Edward Cannon; grandchildren, Chrisha Hopper and husband, Robbie, Nathan Cannon and wife, Nicole, Matthew Cannon, Luke Cannon, Caitlan Cannon, Dakota Cannon, Ashley Stansbury and husband, Cody, Jordan Cannon, Jonathan Cannon; great grandchildren, Layne Hopper, Lexie Hopper, Heaven’Leigh Cannon, Kayleigh Cannon, Charleigh Cannon and Hank Cannon. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Jerry Glenn cannon. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, June 28, 2019, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer.
