GILMER � Services for Jimmy N. Grubbs will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gilmer, with Bishop Jimmy Coulter presiding. Interment will follow services in Kelsey Cemetery in the Kelsey Community of Upshur County. Jimmy passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, in Gilmer, Texas. Jimmy was born October 18, 1951, in Gilmer. His parents were Sam Grubbs and Pegge Grubbs Mumford. Jim married Virginia "Jenny" McNew on November 13, 1975, in Logan, Utah, where they were sealed for time and all eternity. Jim worked in his early years at Lone Star Steel and later went on to mortuary school. Jim came back to Gilmer and worked for Loyd Funeral Home. He later purchased the funeral home from the Loyd family. Jim worked for more than 25 years at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home and saw the opening of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana in 1999. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, friend and funeral director who went out of his way to give comfort to all. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Jenny Grubbs of Gilmer; sons, CorbinYardley Grubbs, Brandon Ryan Grubbs and Clark Reed Grubbs, all of Gilmer; sisters, Charleen Sartor of Tyler and Nancy Eldridge of Longview; and a grandson, Kody Lane Grubbs of Gilmer. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2013, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Jim will also lie in state 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Heart Association .
