Gilmer -- Services for Jerry 'Chili' Childress, 74, of Gilmer, loving husband and father, will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016, at 10:30 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gilmer with Jimmy Coulter presiding and Steve Tefteller conducting. Burial will be in Enoch Cemetery under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Born on June 26, 1941, in Gilmer, Texas, to William Hugh and Monnie Willeford Childress, he died on Thursday, June 16, 2016. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a draftsman, a big Buckeye fan, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ruth Ann Childress; son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Lizzie Childress; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Pap Watson; Marjorie Childress; Vicki and Rodney Wilson; Luanne and Jon Bailey; Angie and Shawn Elkins; Katherine Childress; and Rita and Brent Heisey; sixteen grandchildren, Lauren, Luke, Lulu, James, Zoe, Rhyanna, Lilli, Cole, Camryn, Sam, Ava, Gracie, Mylah, Emma, Daniel, and Alex; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Olivia; one sister, Nelwyn Nations; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Billy Childress. Pallbearers will be Cole Lovett, James Cashell, Tod Cain, David Nations, Daniel Nations, and Sam Bailey. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Online condolences may be left at www.grubsloydfhgilmer.com
