George O. McWhorter

George O. McWhorter, 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, November 29, 2013 in Mt. Pleasant. He was born June 30, 1940, in Quitman, Texas, to Gurnie P. and Lady Mae McWhorter. George was retired from American Can Company. He was raised in the Gilmer area along with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Marion, Billy and Carl McWhorter; and a sister: Wanda Davis. George is survived by his wife: Barbara McWhorter; sons: William and Mark Roberds; daughters: Cindy McWhorter, Sheila Goff, Sandra Whitaker; sister: Kay Arrington; sister-in-law: Sue McWhorter; and two grandchildren: McKenzie and Mattie Goff. A visitation will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM on Monday, December 2, 2013, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer, and graveside services will follow at 2 PM at Grice Cemetery in the Grice Community, that afternoon.
