Services for George Alford "Hope" Reese, 72, of Gilmer, will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, at 2 P.M. at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Donnie Chamberlain and Reverend Randy Stracener officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Born on May 14, 1943, in Hope, Arkansas, to Jack Ball and Oda Belle Reese, he died on Saturday, April 30, 2016. He was a 1962 graduate of Gilmer High School and a member of the Pine Acres Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Paula Loyd Reese of Gilmer; sons, Danny Reese of Houston, Joey Reese of Diana, Steve Burks of Tyler, Allen Burks of Ft. Worth, Robby Cannon and wife, Lori, of Houston; daughters, Gwen Henon and husband, Larry, of Shreveport, and Jennifer Cannon and husband of New Orleans; brothers, Homer Reese, Harold Reese, Larry Reese; sisters, Jo Jones, Jan Peek, Mary Musick; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Reese; and sister, Mae Tabor. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer.
