Services for Euna Blear Kirk, 92, of Marshall, will be held 2 PM Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Pastor Chris Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow at West Mountain Cemetery. Mrs. Kirk passed away Thursday, January 10 in Longview. Euna was born November 12, 1920 in Linden Texas, and was the fourth child and first daughter of Howard Franklin and Roxie Ophelia Penny Fitts. She started school at the age of seven at Warren Springs and later attended and graduated from Linden High School in 1939. In June of 1939 Euna went to work for the National Youth Administration at Gladewater, where she attended further schooling for Home Economics and Radio Communications. She accepted her first part-time job at Jones Grocery and Market. Euna met Johnnie Samuel Blear the following summer in Gladewater. They were married on March 7, 1941, before his stint in the Army. They lived in Gladewater until they moved to West Mountain on January 1, 1950. They had two children: Johnnie Carl Blear, who passed away June 2, 1996, and Brenda Collins and husband, Danny of Waskom. She worked part time as a sales clerk in Department stores and also worked for the Union Grove Schools. In 1962 they bought West Mountain Grocery and Auto Repair and a farm, and operated them until her retirement in 1980. Euna and Johnnie were married for 36 years before he passed away July 3, 1977. Euna met Bob Kirk in August of 1979 and they were married January 18, 1980. Euna and Bob both retired and lived at the lake at Thunderbird Point on Lake Bob Sandlin and later moved to Waskom to be near her daughter and son-in-law. Euna passed her time tending to flowers, bird and squirrel watching, fishing, and watching baseball and football. Bob preceded Euna in September 2009 after 29 years of marriage. Euna was preceded by five brothers and one sister. She is survived by a sister, Margel Neville. She is blessed with 7 grandchildren and spouses: Mike and Tanya Estes, Tonya and Shawn Banks, Angela and Kelly Phillips, Janet and Jeff Webb, Deneise and Brian Taylor, Missy and Kevin Ware and Mark Blear. Tanksley, Seth Tanksley, Tyler Webb, Michael Webb, Ryan Bell and Clayton Ware. Special thanks to the Herritage House in Marshall, Good Shepherd Progressive Care and Heartsway Hospice.
