A celebration of life service for Bobby Joe Rawlings, age 71 of Diana,
will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the First
Baptist Church of Diana, with his son Anthony Lane Rawlings, and First
Baptist Church Pastor, Mark Minter officiating. The family will receive
friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home, Diana, Texas. Bobby passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family following a
lengthy illness.
Bobby was born on July 2, 1946 in Tyler, Texas to the late William
Thurman (WT) Rawlings, and Martha Green Richardson. Bobby was a 1965
graduate of Daingerfield High School. He was a graduate of the
police academy, and worked for seven years as a police officer. He
worked for T&N Warehouse Lone Star for 11 years. Bobby finished his
career working in security for Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview and
the UT Health Center in Tyler. He was a member of First Baptist Church in
Diana. He was an outstanding listener and a very caring sensitive person.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and will be greatly missed. He
enjoyed working in his shop, hunting, watching sports and westerns, taking
care of his animals, and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren,
great grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Diane (Davis)
Rawlings of Diana; son, Anthony Lane Rawlings and wife Steffenie of Mt.
Pleasant; daughters, Renee' Dixon and husband Bert of Diana, Terri
Rincher and husband Gerald of Longview; brothers, Ronnie Rawlings
and wife Peggy of Gladewater, Rapheal Richardson and wife Cheri of Nevada,
the late Charles Richardson and wife Dona of Daingerfield;sisters, Janet Jacoby and husband David of Plano, Glynda Lucas and her late husband Don of Diana; eleven grandchildren, Craig and wife Jennifer, Eric and wife Stephany, Todd, Chad and wife Cheyenne, Brandon, Lyndi, Maria,Caleb, McKenna, Eliana, and Elliott;
and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Halle, one on
the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the
Highway 80 Rescue Mission in Longview, Texas.
