Obituary for Betty Jo Williams
Service for Betty Jo Williams, 88, of Longview will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at New Hope Baptist Church, in Ore City with Reverend Larry Isbell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 5PM-8PM at the Grubbs-Loyd Chapel, in Diana. Betty passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2020. Â
Betty was born April 14, 1932 in Inverness, Mississippi to Joseph and Doris (Ferrell) Kemp. She was a long time member of County Line Baptist Church in Diana and worked many years as a nurse. Betty was the matriarch of a large loving family. She loved cooking, singing, and making music with her family, especially playing her drums. Her family was her whole world, she loved unconditionally, but would be quick to correct you if you weren’t acting right. She will be dearly missed and will forever be in our hearts.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Judy Ratcliff and her husband JW Buzz, daughter, Becky Reaves, son, Lelon Rex Smith Jr., daughter, Angela Darlene Edwards and her husband Tracy Sr., son, Johnny Carroll Williams Jr. and his wife Vickie, daughter, Debbie Reed, daughter, Jeannie Pennington and her husband Richard, 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Lelon Rex Smith Sr., second husband, Johnny Carroll Williams Sr., brother, John Kemp, sisters; Dorothy Kemp, Sally Manno, Letitia Bivins, Billie Hamilton, daughter Pat Temple, son in law Brison Greer, daughter in law Tara Smith.
